All employees and students who operate vehicles on campus must obtain or purchase a virtual parking permit valid for each academic year (Fall Semester through Summer Semester). Virtual parking permits are non-refundable. Permit owners will be responsible for citations issued to vehicles that were assigned during purchase. They will also be responsible for citations issued to any vehicle registered within the date range of issued permit. It is the responsibility of the permit owner to renew virtual parking permits before the stated expiration date to avoid expired permit violations.

Special virtual parking permits and requests may be granted to individuals (on and off campus) for work and school related purposes at ßÏÀÖÔ°.  City Officials, Vendors/Contractors, ßÏÀÖÔ° Administrators, Faculty, Staff, Departments, Organizations, Students and university guests should request parking accommodations through the Parking & Transportation Department. Citations will be issued accordingly if a vehicle is not registered with our office.

The following types of permits are issued:

Reserved virtual parking permits are issued to full-time faculty and other employees designated as "Professional Administrative Staff" (monthly paid) employees upon purchase*. The Reserved virtual parking permit annual fee is $95.00. Individuals who are authorized to purchase a reserved virtual parking permit may utilize the following parking spaces: timed spaces (within the posted time limits); any spaces designated as reserved or staff; and those which are unmarked. Reserved permits do not allow the operator to park in disabled spaces (unless displaying the proper State of Georgia permit), fire lanes, visitor spaces, tow zones, and service vehicle spaces. Part-time adjunct faculty can purchase a reserved or staff permit.

Staff virtual parking permits are issued to full-time (bi-weekly paid) and part-time staff employees (excluding student assistants, graduate assistants and temporary full-time employees) upon purchase*. The staff virtual parking permit annual fee is $55.00. Individuals who are authorized a staff virtual parking permit may utilize the following parking spaces: timed spaces (within the posted time limits); any spaces designated as staff; and those which are unmarked. Staff permits do not allow the operator to park in reserved, disabled spaces (unless displaying the proper state permit), fire lanes, visitor spaces, tow zones, service vehicle spaces and specifically designated reserved spaces.

Student permits are issued to all students upon purchase. The Student virtual parking permit annual fee is $50.00. Individuals who are authorized to receive a student virtual parking permit may utilize the following parking spaces: timed spaces (within the posted time limits) and unmarked parking spaces. Student virtual parking permits do not allow the operator to park in disabled spaces (unless displaying the proper state permit ), fire lanes, reserved or staff spaces, visitor spaces, tow zones, service vehicle spaces and specifically designated spaces (MFT, 24-hour reserved, etc).

Student employees, graduate assistants and work study students must purchase a student permit and park in their designated student areas while at work.  Students are allowed to park in additional spaces during open parking hours (after 5:00pm, Monday-Friday).  Open parking allows students to park in visitor, reserved, staff, timed (for more than allotted time) and student spaces; however, you must have a valid ßÏÀÖÔ° parking permit (see Parking rules and regulations for additional information). 


Students who add the virtual parking permit charge to their fees during registration must still complete the vehicle/license plate registration process in the . An outstanding parking citation balance does not affect purchasing a student virtual parking permit.

  • Students must park in their designated student areas throughout the entire academic year (July – June), even if not enrolled for one particular semester.  Student statuses will change to visitor once they have graduated from the university or are no longer enrolled for consecutive semesters (change to be determined by Parking Administration).
  • Students cannot use reserved or staff virtual permits to park in employee lots or spaces while attending classes.  Students will need to purchase a student virtual permit and park in their designate student areas while on campus.
  • Student workers, whether undergraduate or graduate, must park in student designated spaces only.
  • Students who are hired as a full time employee will be eligible for a staff or reserved virtual permit based on HR’s authorization form.
  • Upon graduating from the university, students can be classified as visitors if they are no longer taking any classes and are not employed at the university.  Non-students and non-employees may purchase a visitor permit via the  before parking on campus (once you have created a guest account in the portal, please email parking@valdosta.edu so we can configure your account.  Your current student permit will be voided at that time.

Motorcycle Permits can be purchased in-office only for your specific classification's fee (contact parking@valdosta.edu for additional information). Motorcycles should be parked in motorcycle spaces, or in the end caps of parking rows (excluding end caps next to service spaces nor in the lines next to disabled spaces). 

Motorcycle permits do not allow the operator to park in disabled spaces (unless displaying the proper State of Georgia permits), reserved or staff spaces, fire lanes, visitor spaces, tow zones and specifically designated reserved spaces. Please note that motorcycles are not authorized to park on sidewalks, next to bicycle racks or in a manner that obstructs traffic or parking designated for motor vehicles. All motorcycles, motorized bikes and scooters must be permitted in order to park on-campus.

Visitor permits will be issued to individuals who are not employees or students. Identification will be required at the time a visitor permit is requested. Individuals with visitor permits may park in any available visitor, reserved, staff, student or timed (for the allotted time) spaces on campus. No parking is allowed in Service Vehicle Spaces, 24-hour reserved, tow zones, curbs and disabled spaces (unless the appropriate state permit is displayed). Daily permits are free of charge. Semester permits are $25.00. Weekend parking (Friday after 5:00pm through Saturday & Sunday – No permit required).

Retiree permits will be issued to employees who have retired from the university. This permit will be issued each year at no charge. Retirees may utilize Reserved, Staff, Unmarked and Timed spaces for the posted time limit. If your employment with the University continues in any working capacity (part-time or full-time basis), and you are parking on campus during the work week, you will be required to purchase a virtual parking permit.

Temporary medical virtual parking permits may be issued to students and employees who currently have a valid virtual parking permit upon the presentation of written documentation from a physician.  Documentation must indicate that the individual cannot walk long distances as well as the dates that the permit is needed. The medical information must be provided to the Access Office, and their staff will determine if a temporary medical virtual parking permit can be authorized.  Temporary medical permit holders may park in timed spaces over the allotted time - excluding the metered lots, or in staff spaces for short periods of time (not overnight). You must be properly registered with Parking & Transportation and have a ßÏÀÖÔ° permit to be eligible for a medical permit and have a zero balance.

Temporary virtual parking permits for faculty, staff, and students are available at the Parking & Transportation Department for customers who purchased an annual virtual parking permit.  Customers who do not purchase a virtual parking permit will be limited to three no-charge temporary permits per academic year.  Temporary permits can be issued for one day or up to two weeks at no charge; however, a charge will be assessed after the third no charge limit.

Virtual parking permits for special visitors, i.e. speakers, visiting teachers, consultants, special groups, etc., may be arranged through the Parking & Transportation Department's Visitor Permit Application.  The form is fillable, and all fields must be completed.  The form can be emailed to parking@valdsota.edu by the visitor or the department employee arranging the visit.

* Re-assignment of virtual parking permits must be done properly through Parking & Transportation Supervisors as well as both parties involved (permit owner and individual accepting permit responsibility).

* Employees purchasing a virtual parking permit must have a zero citation balance.  Any outstanding balance owed to Parking & Transportation will be deducted from employees final pay check during the exit process.
