VALDOSTA — Labryn Depta of Valdosta, Georgia, is the recipient of the Fall 2025 President’s Award for Academic Excellence for the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration at ßÏÀÖÔ°.

The President’s Award for Academic Excellence is presented to a high-performing graduating student in each of ßÏÀÖÔ°’s six colleges — Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, College of the Arts, James L. and Dorothy H. Dewar College of Education and Human Services, College of Science and Mathematics, and College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Depta will be recognized during ßÏÀÖÔ°’s 240th Commencement at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, on the Main Campus Front Lawn. He will graduate summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

“Ending my undergraduate years with this honor feels both humbling and meaningful, he said. “My time at ßÏÀÖÔ°, and especially in the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration, has been an outstanding experience. The professors here have been exceptional, not only knowledgeable in their fields but also genuinely invested in helping students grow and succeed. Their guidance, encouragement, and high expectations pushed me to perform at my best and prepared me for what comes next.

“Looking back, I’m proud of the hard work that led to this point and grateful for the opportunities and mentorship I’ve had throughout my time at ßÏÀÖÔ°. This award feels like the perfect culmination of those efforts and experiences.”

As a student at ßÏÀÖÔ°, Depta successfully passed the FINRA SIE-Securities Industry Essentials Exam, the FINRA Series 7-General Securities Representative Exam, and the North American Securities Administrators Association Series 66-Uniform Combined State Law Exam — an indication that he is well-prepared to advise clients, recommend investments, and execute securities transactions in compliance with industry standards.

He worked as a financial advisor for Legacy Partners, a Valdosta-based financial planning and investment firm, and became part owner of Prudent Man Tax, a local tax preparation service for individuals and small businesses.

Depta’s commitment to academic and leadership excellence resulted in him earning the 2024-2025 American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Foundation Scholarship, the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 Beth Burnette Scholarship, and the 2024-2025 Lillian and Rea Steele Scholarship. He was a Georgia HOPE Scholar and a six-time Dean’s List honoree, with a seventh recognition expected at the end of the semester.

“After graduation, I plan to continue building my career at Legacy Partners as a financial advisor,” he said. “In addition, I plan to continue working diligently at Prudent Man Tax. Working with clients on both financial planning and tax strategy has been incredibly rewarding, and I look forward to continuing to grow in both areas.

“My long-term goal is to strengthen my expertise, grow my client base, and make a meaningful impact in my community by helping people make informed financial decisions. The education and mentorship I received through the College of Business Administration at ßÏÀÖÔ° have played a major role in preparing me for this next chapter of life.”

His supportive family includes parents Dr. Brent and Heather Depta, fiancée Brailey Weaver, siblings Parker and Mabry Hart Depta, and dog Finn Depta. His wedding is scheduled one week after graduation.
