|
VALDOSTA — Nephina, featuring Nina Lutz on violin and Nephtali Santiago on guitar, will perform in concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, on the ßÏÀÖÔ° Whitehead Auditorium stage. Admission is free of charge and open to the public.
Nephina’s program features Franz Schubert’s “great” Arpeggione Sonata and two “very passionate Spanish-style pieces,” Dimas Sedicias’s Requiem para un Novillero and Manuel de Falla’s Spanish Dance No. 1, said Santiago, celebrated guitarist and adjunct professor in ßÏÀÖÔ°’s Department of Music. The duo will perform Irving Berlin’s “Reaching for the Moon” and “Always” with vocalist Cindy Quick, instructor in ßÏÀÖÔ°’s English Language Institute and active singer and guitarist who performs regularly at area venues.
Lutz serves as chairwoman of the ßÏÀÖÔ° Department of Music String Area and has been concertmaster of the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra and first violinist of the ßÏÀÖÔ° Faculty String Quartet since 1992. She teaches courses in applied violin, music theory, and functional piano.
Whitehead Auditorium is located on the first floor of the ßÏÀÖÔ°’s Fine Arts Building, at the intersection of Brookwood Drive and Oak Street.
