Fiber Break Causes Internet Outage Tuesday
VALDOSTA -- A break in fiber occurred in the in the lines
between Adel and Valdosta at about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec.
12.
PeachNet reports that Georgia Public Web technicians have been
dispatched to investigate and repair. Historically, repairs such as
this have been made within 8 hours. ßÏÀÖÔ° Information Technology said
the repair should be made by approximately 3 p.m.
This break means that users located on campus cannot access
resources located off campus such as the Internet, Galileo/GIL,
GeorgiaView, ADP, Peoplesoft, email received from or sent to off
campus addresses, etc. Users located off campus cannot access
resources located on campus, including ßÏÀÖÔ° email, web site,
BlazeView, BlazeNet, etc. Emails should queue on senders facilities
and process within hours once connections are restored.
*** PeachNet reports confirmed that service was restored at
approximately noon Tuesday. Independent reports confirm that web
browsers are accessing ßÏÀÖÔ°'s site now. Anyone still being
redirected to the Emergency Web Services page can use the
links there to click through to BlazeView or BlazeNet.
