ßÏÀÖÔ° Launches new Home Page Design
VALDOSTA - ßÏÀÖÔ° will launch a new design
for its home Web page, , on Tuesday, July
8, to provide visitors with a more effective, attractive
design.
As ßÏÀÖÔ°'s first true effort towards utilizing Web 2.0 technology,
the new design provides many new options to Web designers. It
improves versatility by arranging center content in four quadrants,
each easily repositioned and updated for the most effective
presentation of information. It will improve navigation in a
variety of ways, ultimately directing external visitors to their
desired information in the quickest, easiest manner. The new home
page will also drive visitors to the ßÏÀÖÔ° News site for the most
recent university updates and news stories, system news, campus
notices, Visionary features and more.
The new design replaces the previous red with more neutral colors,
improves navigation with simple menus and a new quick links
section, and provides more real estate for displaying important
news and information. It also allows ßÏÀÖÔ° and its internal units to
make information more accessible to external visitors, while
maintaining a consistent, more attractive appearance.
Some of the most noticeable changes will be the top banner, which
will feature the newest version of the ßÏÀÖÔ° logo; placement of the
news story list, links and the drop-down menu and a new option for
teasing stories and announcements. The primary focal point will be
a large image or graphic, which will link visitors to important ßÏÀÖÔ°
news and features. The image will rotate upon each refresh of the
page to one of 3-5 different options. Lower level pages will see
very minor changes, including the ßÏÀÖÔ° logo as well as other minor
changes to the top banner.
Because of the Contribute Web site editing system, individual
unit's publishers and writers will not have to make changes to
their pages, nor will their content be affected. E-mail Webmaster
Andy Fore at arfore@valdosta.edu for more
information.
