ßÏÀÖÔ° hosts 10th annual Women's Studies Conference

ßÏÀÖÔ°'s Women's Studies Program, partnered with the Southeastern Women's Studies Association, will present the 10th Annual Women's Studies Conference from March 30 to April 1, 2006, at ßÏÀÖÔ°'s University Center.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m., Thursday, March 30, in the lobby of the University Center. The times of each day's events vary, but the entire conference will end on April 1 at 3:15 p.m. with closing remarks.

Keynote speakers for the conference will include best-selling authors Jennifer Baumgardener and Amy Richards. There will also be readings by ßÏÀÖÔ°'s Writer-in-Residence Janice Daugharty and diversity leader Simona Hill. The musical group, Someone's Sister will also perform at the conference.

A featured event is "Visions and Voices: Traditional Artistry of Wiregrass Women on March 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the University Center Magnolia Room. This folk life festival will feature traditional women artists who are included in the new South Georgia Folk life Collection at the ßÏÀÖÔ° Archives and Special Collections, as well as music, food, exhibits and crafts demonstrations.

Additional off-campus events include a coffeehouse session at Giulio's Restaurant at 105 East Ann Street and a jazz cookout at Snake Nation Press at 110 West Force Street.
